About the role
FrostByte is looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to design and build scalable frontend applications for an enterprise client. The role involves a mix of hands-on React development, architecture, and technical leadership.
- Design, build and maintain complex frontend applications using React.
- Take ownership of major technical initiatives from initial concept through delivery.
- Help shape frontend architecture and define scalable patterns for the team.
- Make technical decisions and communicate reasoning, risks and trade-offs.
- Contribute to the modernisation and long-term technical direction of an established platform.
- Identify and address technical risks, dependencies and technical debt.
- Review code and promote consistent design, testing and engineering standards.
- Improve application performance, reliability and maintainability.
- Work with backend engineers and APIs to maintain clean system boundaries.
- Investigate complex technical problems and drive them to resolution.
- Provide practical guidance and mentorship to intermediate engineers.
- Contribute to technical discussions, knowledge sharing and delivery planning.
What they're looking for
- At least 7 years of professional software development experience, including senior-level delivery responsibility.
- Strong hands-on experience with React and modern JavaScript and or TypeScript.
- Experience designing frontend architecture for large or complex applications.
- Strong understanding of component architecture, state management and application structure.
- Experience integrating frontend applications with APIs and backend services.
- Strong knowledge of testing, performance and maintainability principles.
- Strong Git, code review and collaborative engineering experience.
- Ability to make independent technical decisions and explain trade-offs clearly.
- Experience owning projects or substantial technical workstreams from idea through delivery.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, mentoring and communication skills.
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field is preferred.
