About the role
Our client based in Cape Town Woodstock is looking for a Project Manager that has led Snowflake implementation, this is for a 6-12 months renewable contract
A large retail organisation is looking for an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to take ownership of the delivery of a Snowflake implementation and Power BI projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and managing end-to-end project delivery, coordinating business stakeholders, technical teams and third-party vendors, and ensuring projects are delivered within agreed timelines, budgets and governance frameworks.
This is a delivery-focused Project Management role. The candidate does not need to be a hands-on Power BI developer; however, they must have proven experience managing the implementation and delivery of Power BI and Snowflake solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of Snowflake implementation and Power BI projects.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, milestones and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate cross-functional technical teams, business stakeholders and external vendors.
- Manage project budgets, resources, risks, issues, dependencies and change requests.
- Establish and maintain appropriate project governance, reporting and controls.
- Facilitate project meetings, steering committees and stakeholder engagements.
- Manage communication between technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Track project progress against agreed scope, timelines, budget and quality requirements.
- Identify and proactively manage project risks, issues and dependencies.
- Ensure effective vendor and third-party management.
- Provide regular project status reporting to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure appropriate documentation, project controls and delivery standards are maintained.
- Support successful implementation, transition and handover into operational teams.
What they're looking for
- 5–7 years' relevant IT Project Management experience.
- Proven experience managing the delivery/implementation of Power BI projects.
- Proven experience managing a Snowflake implementation/project.
- Experience managing projects involving data, BI, analytics or cloud platforms.
- Strong project planning and delivery management skills.
- Strong budget and resource management experience.
- Strong project governance and reporting experience.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience coordinating technical teams, business users and third-party vendors.
- Strong risk, issue, dependency and change management capabilities.
- Ability to take ownership of projects and drive delivery from initiation through to implementation.
- Experience working within structured project management methodologies and governance frameworks.
Advantageous
- Retail industry experience.
- Experience working on large-scale data transformation or modernisation programmes.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms and BI/analytics environments.
- Relevant Project Management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum or equivalent.
