About the role
Our client, a well-established organisation within the transport and logistics industry, is seeking a detail-oriented and technically strong Migration Accountant to join their team in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth).
- Extract, prepare, cleanse and import accounting data from Sage Pastel Partner into Zoho.
- Map charts of accounts and prepare customer and supplier master data for migration.
- Perform detailed reconciliations of trial balances, debtors and creditors.
- Investigate and resolve variances between the old and new accounting systems.
- Develop and maintain Excel-based reconciliation templates and control checks.
- Prepare audit-ready reconciliation files and supporting documentation for each entity.
- Track migration progress across all 45 legal entities and report outstanding issues.
- Ensure accurate opening balances and debtor and creditor ageing at cutover.
- Document migration procedures and establish repeatable processes.
- Provide post-implementation support to the finance team as required.
What they're looking for
- Completed accounting qualification.
- Full-function accounting experience up to trial balance.
- Advanced Excel skills, including XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, SUMIFS, Pivot Tables and data cleansing.
- Strong reconciliation and variance investigation skills.
- Experience working with multiple legal entities.
- Sound understanding of trial balances, debtors, creditors and control accounts.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Must be based in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) and willing to work on-site.
- Advantageous: experience with Sage Pastel Partner.
- Advantageous: knowledge of Zoho accounting software.
- Advantageous: previous involvement in accounting system migrations or implementations.
- Advantageous: audit experience and preparation of audit-ready working papers.
- Advantageous: experience with Power Query, Power BI or similar data-handling tools.
