About the role
Our client is looking for a Locum Registered Nurse – Psychiatric Specialist in Pretoria to lead and manage patient care within the psychiatric unit. This role requires independent clinical decision-making and leadership in therapeutic nursing practice.
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric nursing assessments.
- Develop, implement and manage individualised care plans.
- Administer and monitor psychiatric medication within authorised scope.
- Supervise Enrolled Nurses and support staff.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensure compliance with clinical standards and patient safety protocols.
- Provide family education and emotional support.
What they're looking for
- 4-year Nursing Degree or Diploma.
- Valid SANC registration as a Registered Nurse with appropriate psychiatric nursing credentials.
- Proven experience in psychiatric nursing care.
- Strong clinical assessment and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and patient-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for overall nursing care.
