About the role
Our client is seeking a compassionate, skilled and dedicated Locum Registered Nurse specialising in Psychiatric Care to support patients within an oncology healthcare setting.
- Provide professional nursing care to patients requiring psychiatric and psychological support within an oncology setting.
- Assess, monitor and document patients' mental and emotional well-being.
- Administer prescribed medication and monitor patients for side effects.
- Support patients experiencing anxiety, depression and emotional distress related to their diagnosis or treatment.
- Monitor patients' conditions and report any changes to the relevant healthcare practitioners.
- Implement individualised nursing care plans in accordance with clinical guidelines and facility protocols.
- Maintain accurate patient records and nursing documentation.
- Collaborate with doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety and professional nursing standards.
What they're looking for
- Registered Nurse qualification.
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- Previous psychiatric nursing experience.
- Experience in an oncology or healthcare setting would be advantageous.
- Strong clinical assessment, communication and patient-care skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, compassion and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and uphold professional nursing standards.
