About the role
Our client is seeking a polished, welcoming and professional Hostess for a fixed-term contract at an award-winning fine dining restaurant in Stellenbosch.
As the first point of contact for guests, the successful candidate will play an important role in creating an exceptional dining experience through warm hospitality, efficient reservations management and excellent restaurant organisation.
This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a sophisticated restaurant environment and interacting confidently with discerning guests.
- Welcome guests warmly and professionally upon arrival.
- Manage the restaurant reservations book and guest seating arrangements.
- Escort guests to allocated tables and dining areas.
- Coordinate seating plans for lunch and dinner service.
- Present menus and introduce guests to their service team.
- Maintain awareness of daily menu changes and restaurant offerings.
- Answer telephone calls and respond to guest enquiries.
- Coordinate VIP arrivals and communicate special requirements to management.
- Maintain accurate shift handovers and reservations information.
- Monitor table availability and support efficient restaurant seating.
- Maintain a clean and professional reception area.
- Ensure guests receive a warm farewell.
What they're looking for
- Grade 12 essential.
- Hospitality qualification advantageous.
- Preferably 1–2 years' previous Hostess experience.
- Fine dining or luxury restaurant experience preferred.
- Understanding of restaurant etiquette and reservations procedures.
- Excellent guest-relations and communication skills.
- Professional presentation and a welcoming personality.
- Strong organisational and multitasking ability.
- Confident dealing with high-profile and international guests.
- Able to remain calm during busy service periods.
- Comfortable standing and walking throughout a shift.
- Available for evenings, weekends and public holidays.
