About the role
Our client is seeking a warm, polished and highly guest-focused Host / Duty Manager to join an exclusive five-star boutique hotel in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal.
This is a hands-on hospitality position for someone who genuinely enjoys hosting guests, anticipating their needs and creating personalised luxury experiences.
The successful candidate will spend most of their time in guest areas, coordinating service and supporting operational teams rather than working behind a desk.
- Take ownership of the guest experience during allocated shifts.
- Welcome guests and provide attentive, personalised service.
- Anticipate guest requirements and coordinate special requests.
- Oversee daily operations across Front Office, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping and Spa.
- Support team members and maintain smooth service between departments.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas and dining spaces.
- Maintain excellent presentation, cleanliness and ambience.
- Handle guest feedback and service recovery professionally.
- Support staff training and lead by example.
- Assist with Opera Cloud, Micros, daily reporting and handovers.
- Complete end-of-day procedures and night audit when scheduled.
- Maintain guest safety, hygiene and operational standards.
What they're looking for
- Previous experience in a guest-facing hospitality position.
- Five-star, luxury or boutique hotel experience preferred.
- Good understanding of hotel operations across departments.
- Opera Cloud and Micros experience advantageous.
- Naturally warm, confident and engaging personality.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional presentation and strong attention to detail.
- Calm under pressure with sound decision-making ability.
- Hands-on, proactive and willing to assist wherever required.
- Available to work shifts, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary: Market Related, from R11,000 per month
- Benefits: Contributions towards Medical Aid and Provident Fund
