Salary: US$3,500 – US$4,500 Net Per Month + Expatriate Benefits

Hospitality Jobs Africa is recruiting an experienced South African General Manager for an established luxury hospitality operation in Southern Democratic Republic of Congo, close to the Zambian border.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially astute, hands-on hospitality professional with a solid hotel management background and particularly strong food and beverage experience.

We are looking for someone who can attract new clientele, build repeat business, develop the team and drive profitability across several very different revenue-generating outlets.

The property combines boutique hotel accommodation with a substantial food,

beverage and events operation. While hotel management experience is essential, the

food and beverage side of the business will be a major focus of this position.

The Operation

The General Manager will have overall responsibility for:

- A 14-bedroom boutique hotel

- A fine-dining restaurant seating 100 guests

- Banqueting, weddings and private functions for up to 280 guests

- A rooftop event bar seating 150 guests

- A lounge bar seating 100 guests

- A takeaway operation

- Overall management of the property's hospitality, food and beverage operations

- The food offering focuses on modern European and Congolese fusion cuisine.

The Candidate We Are Looking For

• We are seeking an experienced General Manager with a proven background in four- and five-star hotels, coupled with extensive multi-outlet food and beverage management experience.
• This is not a purely rooms-focused hotel management position. The successful candidate must have a genuine understanding of restaurant operations, bar management, banqueting, events and the commercial opportunities that come with running a diverse F&B operation.
• You will need to be commercially driven, operationally strong and comfortable taking responsibility for every aspect of the business.
• Of particular importance is your ability to develop local talent, establish clear operating standards and build a motivated, accountable team.

You should bring:

• Proven General Manager experience within quality four- and five-star hotel operations
• Extensive food and beverage management experience, ideally across multiple restaurants, bars and events venues
• A genuine flair for business development, guest engagement and customer retention
• The creativity and commercial awareness to introduce new concepts, promotions and revenue-generating opportunities
• Experience overseeing weddings, banqueting, functions and busy restaurant operations
• Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control and profitability
• The ability to recruit, train, mentor and develop local employees A fair, consistent leadership style with clear expectations and high standards
• Excellent guest relations skills and the confidence to build relationships with corporate clients, local businesses and regular patrons
• The flexibility and resilience to work successfully in an international African environment
• We are particularly interested in candidates who are visible, approachable and actively involved in the daily operation.
• This is not a position for a General Manager who prefers to remain behind a desk. We need someone who enjoys engaging with guests, supporting their department heads and finding new ways to grow the business.
