About the role

Our client in Pretoria is recruiting for a Full Stack Developer (Advanced) to join their team.

• Design, develop and maintain scalable full-stack applications within the GAIA ecosystem.
• Develop backend services, APIs and microservices using Python.
• Build modern Angular-based front-end solutions.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, UX designers and business stakeholders to refine requirements.
• Translate business requirements into secure and maintainable technical solutions.
• Integrate AI capabilities and enterprise knowledge services into GAIA applications.
• Ensure code quality through unit testing, peer reviews and engineering best practices.
• Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups and retrospectives.
• Manage CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Monitor production systems and resolve incidents.
• Contribute to platform architecture decisions and technical improvements.
• Document solutions according to the client’s compliance and quality standards.
• Support and mentor junior developers where appropriate.
• Continuously evaluate emerging AI and software engineering technologies for adoption within GAIA.

• Qualifications/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 4–6 years of professional software development experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with Python development.
• Minimum 2–3 years of Angular development experience.
• Proven experience delivering enterprise-grade cloud applications.
• Experience working in Agile software delivery environments.
• Experience with AWS-based solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of features from design to production.
• Experience in AI, GenAI or platform engineering environments is highly desirable.
• Previous exposure to large-scale enterprise platforms is advantageous.
• Essential Skills Requirements:
• GenAI, Agentic AI, RAG, AWS, Python, Angular, and MLOps exposure.
• Backend Development.
• Strong proficiency in Python 3.9+.
• Experience developing microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with REST APIs and backend service design.
• SQL expertise (PostgreSQL preferred).
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g. DynamoDB).
• Experience with ORM frameworks such as SQLAlchemy / SQLModel.
• Frontend Development
• Strong Angular (17+), TypeScript and JavaScript skills.
• Experience with HTML5, SCSS and responsive web design.
• Understanding of UI/UX principles.
• Ability to implement designs from Figma.
• Cloud & DevOps
• Experience with AWS cloud services.
• CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance (GitHub Actions, Terraform).
• Docker experience.
• Monitoring and logging experience (CloudWatch, Tracing).
• Git branching and release management.
• Agile & Collaboration.
• Experience working in Agile teams.
• Strong communication skills.
• Confluence and Jira proficiency.
• Ability to work in globally distributed teams.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• AI Platform Development.
• Understanding of Generative AI and AI platform concepts.
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into applications.
• Ability to leverage AI-driven insights to improve products and processes.
• Advantageous Skills Requirements:
• AWS Lambda, ECS and Fargate experience.
• Kubernetes experience.
• Knowledge of the Density Framework.
• Experience with authentication technologies:
• AWS Cognito
• OAuth2
• OpenID Connect
• Active Directory integration.
• Experience with event streaming and messaging systems.
• Exposure to MLOps concepts.
• Knowledge of AI agents, RAG architectures and Knowledge Management solutions.
