About the role

Our client is seeking a highly competent, detail-oriented and commercially astute Financial Manager to oversee the financial operations of an established business in Pongola, KwaZulu-Natal.

This is a senior, hands-on financial management opportunity for a professional who understands that effective financial control goes beyond reporting figures. The successful candidate must ensure that every transaction is accurately recorded, properly authorised, fully supported by documentation and correctly reconciled.

The position offers an attractive, negotiable remuneration package for an exceptional candidate with proven financial management expertise.

• Take full responsibility for financial management, accounting records, cash flow, budgeting and management reporting.
• Maintain accurate, independently identifiable financial records for each company where multiple entities are involved.
• Oversee daily cash-ups, POS reconciliations, cash, card transactions and EFT payments.
• Ensure all invoices, credit notes, refunds and adjustments have complete supporting documentation and appropriate authorisation.
• Manage bank reconciliations, cash-flow forecasts and payment planning.
• Oversee debtors, creditors, supplier reconciliations and outstanding account collections.
• Prepare budgets, analyse variances and monitor profitability and expenditure.
• Produce accurate monthly financial reports covering income, expenses, cash flow and financial risks.
• Oversee payroll verification, financial administration and statutory compliance processes.
• Monitor stock movements, inventory discrepancies and fixed asset registers where applicable.
• Coordinate financial information for accountants, auditors and tax practitioners.
• Implement robust internal controls to prevent fraud, financial losses, duplicate payments and unauthorised transactions.
• Supervise financial administration staff and coordinate external financial service providers.
• Ensure complete audit trails, accurate filing and strict adherence to financial approval procedures.

What they're looking for

• Relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance or Financial Management.
• Proven experience in a financial management or senior accounting role.
• Strong expertise in financial controls, reconciliations, cash-flow management and management accounts.
• Experience managing cash-intensive business operations and daily POS reconciliations advantageous.
• Excellent knowledge of creditors, debtors, payroll controls and statutory financial requirements.
• Ability to manage financial records across multiple entities.
• Strong accounting systems and Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Experience implementing financial procedures, audit trails and fraud-prevention controls.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• High levels of integrity, confidentiality and accountability.
• Confident communicating financial information to business owners and senior management.
• Willing and able to work in Pongola, KwaZulu-Natal.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary: R50,000 per month, negotiable.
• For an exceptional candidate: The client is prepared to consider remuneration of up to R80,000 per month, depending on qualifications, experience and proven capabilities.
