About the role

Executive Chef – Southern DRC

Close to the Zambian Border | Single Status

US$2,500 – US$3,500 Net Per Month + Excellent Expatriate Benefits

We are recruiting an experienced South African Executive Chef for a luxury multi-outlet hospitality operation in Southern Democratic Republic of Congo, close to the Zambian border.

This is a substantial operation with three separate kitchens and several very different food and beverage outlets. We are looking for a chef who is comfortable moving between fine dining, events, banqueting and higher-volume food production without compromising standards.

The operation includes:

A fine-dining restaurant seating approximately 100 guests

Banqueting, functions and weddings for up to 280 guests

A rooftop event bar seating approximately 150

A lounge bar catering for around 100 guests

A takeaway operation

Three kitchens under the Executive Chef's overall responsibility

The food style is modern European and Congolese fusion, and there is plenty of scope for a creative chef to put their own stamp on the menus.

Single status only.

What We Are Looking For

• You will need a solid background within four- and five-star hotels or comparable luxury hospitality operations, with genuine experience managing more than one outlet and leading busy kitchen teams.

This role will suit a chef who is:

• Strong on staff development, mentoring and practical kitchen training
• Creative with menu development, plating and signature dishes
• Experienced in fine dining as well as banqueting and events
• Calm and organised in high-pressure environments
• Comfortable overseeing several kitchens and service styles simultaneously
• Strong on food costing, stock control, purchasing, hygiene and kitchen systems
• Able to establish standards and make sure they are consistently maintained
• Adaptable and comfortable working in an international African environment
• A confident leader who can earn the respect of an established kitchen team
• We are particularly interested in chefs who still enjoy being involved in the food. This is not a role for someone who wants to manage entirely from an office.

Candidates must be South African and willing to relocate to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
