About the role
The company is seeking an experienced Estimator for overhead lines to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for transmission and distribution infrastructure projects.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for overhead transmission and distribution line projects.
- Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and scope requirements.
- Develop accurate labour, plant, material, subcontractor, and equipment cost estimates.
- Compile pricing schedules and commercial submissions.
- Maintain estimating databases and historical cost records.
- Analyse project designs, route information, and technical specifications.
- Identify scope risks, exclusions, assumptions, and opportunities.
- Liaise with engineering and construction teams to validate project requirements.
- Support value engineering initiatives during the tender phase.
- Conduct commercial reviews and tender risk assessments.
- Assist in developing bid strategies to improve competitiveness and profitability.
- Prepare tender qualifications, assumptions, and clarifications.
- Evaluate project risks and pricing contingencies.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Compare pricing, technical compliance, and delivery schedules.
- Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and service providers.
- Prepare tender summaries, cost breakdowns, and management reports.
- Participate in tender adjudication meetings.
- Support contract negotiations and client clarification meetings.
- Assist with project handovers following successful tender awards.
What they're looking for
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Minimum 5–10 years' estimating experience within the electrical, power, transmission, distribution, or construction industry.
- Proven experience estimating overhead line projects, including transmission and distribution networks.
- Strong understanding of EPC, construction, and project costing principles.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, line profiles, route plans, and technical specifications.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
